Population  2,515

Bonners Ferry is named for Edward Bonner.  He was the builder of the first ferry boat on the Kootenai River for transportation needs of gold prospectors of Wild Horse Creek in British Columbia.  The Kootenai River, unique not only due to its large sturgeon population is a fickle patriot.  Originating in Canada, it flows south across the U.S. border then returns north back into Canada.

Bonners Ferry, is the largest city in Boundary County and is located in the Kootenai River Valley.  The valley is 25 miles south of the Canadian border .  With U.S. 95 running through the center of town and the main access to Canada, Bonners Ferry offers endless activities.  The city offers golf Courses, hiking trails to geological areas, fly fishing on local Creeks, and luxury games and facilities at the Kootenai River Inn and Casino.
