Harrison

History

Population  276

At one time a rough-and-tumble logging town, Harrison still sports Remnants of its colorful past.  Historic buildings, like the community's two churches, its weathered saloons and even the city's graveyard, all stand as testament to the hardy souls who built this one-time boom town.

In the early 1900's, Harrison was a main port for the big passenger steamers that navigated Lake Coeur d'Alene.

"The Other City On Coeur d'Alene Lake"

Nestled  at the mouth of the Coeur d'Alene River, toward the southern end of Lake Coeur d'Alene, lies the picturesque town of Harrison.  A bit of the old and a bit of the new are melded in perfect harmony in this community named for our nation's 23rd president.

Once a landing for steamers the community remains a port, but now for the many pleasure boats that ply the clear waters on the southern end of Lake Coeur d'Alene.  Visitors can also board The Harrison and ride the historic paddle-wheeler on scenic tours of the St. Joe and Coeur d'Alene Rivers.  For more information call (208) 689-3932.

By waterway or highway, getting there is half the fun.  Make it a point to attend an annual summer event, such as Old Timers Picnic that gather both long-time residents for farmers market, logging events, fun run fishing derby, paddlewheel cruises and more.
