History Population 9,653 Combined Prior to 1846, Native Americans inhabited the shores of Hayden Lake. Legend has it that in 1878 a pioneer named Matt Heyden and another early homesteader, John Hager got into a poker game to see who would name the lake. Heyden Won. Time altered the spelling to Hayden Lake. The Hayden Lake country Club was once a recreational stop known as Bozanta Tavern. During world War II it was an R & R site for service personnel.

| Hayden Days Access
to Hayden Lake is somewhat limited with only two public boat launches -
Honeysuckle Beach and Sportsman's Access. Honeysuckle is a sandy
beach with a roped swim area, dock, public change house and
restrooms. Fishing and water sports are popular pastimes on the
lake. A PGA-rated golf course, Avondale on Hayden, is nearby and
open to public play. Tennis courts are available at the course as
well as in the city park, which is located on Government Way near Hayden
City Hall. Family Lifestyle Hayden Lake is one of the most desired lakefront
communities in North Idaho. With its closeness to Spokane and Coeur d'Alene
it provides a rural setting that's close to the larger cities. The shorelines of Hayden Lake offer spectacular
views. Many new developments provide for a wide variety
of new home with good locations. With it's many open
spaces and friendly environment the cities of Hayden and Hayden Lake are
just waiting for you. |
